Hands Together Historic Triangle

handtogether

We have an upcoming community volunteer opportunity for those attorneys who are interested, in the form of the Hands Together Historic Triangle event on March 7, 2016. It is a one-day resource fair for the homeless and precariously housed in our community.  There will be a wide variety of organizations there providing information about social services, mental and physical health, food distribution, housing, as well as other necessities. This year it will be at the Quarterpath Recreation Center from 10am – 4 pm.

James City County Social Services is requesting attorneys to attend to cater to legal needs and questions.  The WBA will have a booth at this event needing attorneys to man each shift.  The shifts will be as follows:

*Two attorneys from 10:00AM to 11:30 AM

*Two attorneys from 11:30AM to 1:00 PM

*Two attorneys from 1:00 PM to 3:00PM

This is a great opportunity both to help the community and build new relationships/clientele.

Please contact our board member Nate Green if you are interested in this volunteer opportunity, and tell him which shift you would prefer.

Legal Food Frenzy

Virginia Peninsula Foodbank

The Virginia Peninsula Foodbank needs your participation in the 10th Annual Legal Food Frenzy April 4 –15, 2016.

This is when our law community takes action to arrest hunger. The Legal Food Frenzy is a statewide fun/friendly food and fund drive competition sponsored by the Attorney General of Virginia, The Young Lawyers Division of the Virginia Bar Association, and the Federation of Virginia Food Banks.  This is an event, where law firms and colleges across Virginia collect food and monetary donations, competing for the Attorney General’s Cup and 11 other prestigious awards. No matter how big or small, all firms have an equal chance of winning.

In the end, everyone is a winner because of you coming together to help solve hunger.
